ARM Acquires Allant Software
CAMBRIDGE, UK - Sept. 20, 2000
ARM [(LSE:ARM); (Nasdaq:ARMHY)], the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC microprocessor solutions, today announced it has acquired Allant Software Corporation. Based in Walnut Creek, California, Allant Software provides software development tools and technology to the embedded microprocessor industry.
"This acquisition of Allant Software is in line with our commitment to supporting the ARM architecture with a broad range of design tools that enable efficient development and debug of complex, high-value system-on-chip solutions," said Warren East, vice president of Operations for ARM. "By incorporating Allant's leading-edge technology into our industry-proven design solutions, we will be able to provide designers with the real-time tools they require for the fast and efficient development of ARM Powered[tm] systems."
Allant Software is a five-person company that specializes in multi-core debugging technology. The company's ASPEX technology provides a complete development environment that includes an integrated, context-sensitive editor, build facilities, source code version control management, the ASPEX debugger, code generation tools, simulation, and other software development tools. The technology enables DSP and ARM software developers to increase productivity and reduce time-to-market by providing mixed architecture debug support from a single debugger.
"Allant® has been providing development and debug solutions for ARM and DSP system-on-chip designs for many years, and our technology and expertise will complement ARM's already strong portfolio of development tools," said Dan Jaskolski, CEO of Allant Software. "Allant is very excited to be joining ARM, and is looking forward to helping ARM's partners realize a shorter, more efficient time-to-market."
About Allant Software Corporation
Allant Software Corporation applies advanced embedded microprocessor software development tools and technology to the rapidly expanding market enabled by embedded DSP, RISC and System on Chip (SoC) technologies.
Allant provides high quality, high-value, open software development tools for DSP and ARM software developers. Such developers frequently operate in a demanding SoC environment that often requires solutions incorporated from a spectrum of complementary design alternatives including ASIC cores, embedded DSPs and microcontrollers, as well as complex multi-processor configurations. Allant's products enable DSP and ARM software developers to significantly increase productivity and to successfully address their time-to-market requirements by providing mixed architecture debug support from a single ASPEX debugger.
