Virage Logic Completes Acquisition of Ingot Systems
FREMONT, Calif. -- Aug 16, 2007 -- Virage Logic Corporation (NASDAQ:VIRL), the semiconductor industry's trusted IP partner and pioneer in Silicon Aware IP(TM), today announced that it has completed its acquisition of privately held Ingot Systems, Inc., a leading provider of application specific IP (ASIP) solutions and design services to the semiconductor industry. The acquisition expands Virage Logic's ability to serve the company's chosen markets by adding new products and services required in the rapid development of System-on-Chip (SoC) integrated circuits to Virage Logic's current family of physical IP products including memory compilers, logic libraries and related development tools.
"Virage Logic is committed to providing our over 300 global customers with advanced technology, quality products and services. The addition of Ingot Systems' application specific IP to our broad portfolio of physical IP products increases the value we are able to provide our customers as they develop their advanced SoCs," said Dan McCranie, Virage Logic president and chief executive officer. "The response from our customers has been very positive and I'm confident this broadening of our products and services will further establish Virage Logic as the semiconductor industry's trusted IP partner."
Cypress Semiconductor selected Ingot Systems' DDR Memory Controller and design services. Ingot's memory controller supports Mobile DDR and Mobile SDR operation, key requirements for low-power consumer electronics. "We reviewed the DDR memory controllers on the market and found the Ingot solution best suited for our application, mainly due to its low power requirements and ability to address our aggressive goals for performance and latency," said Alakesh Chetia, managing director, Data Communications Division from Cypress Semiconductor.
iVivity, a leading provider of multi-protocol silicon for enterprise networks, uses Virage Logic Standard Cell Libraries and its STAR Memory System(TM) in its designs, as well as the Ingot Systems DDR2 Memory Controller. "We have come to rely on Virage Logic's and Ingot's technically advanced products, excellent quality and superior customer support services," said Jim O'Connor, senior vice president of engineering for iVivity Incorporated. "As we move ahead with ever more advanced network processor designs, we look forward to exploring the combined capabilities of Virage Logic and Ingot to help realize our goals for performance and area."
About Virage Logic
Founded in 1996, Virage Logic Corporation (Nasdaq:VIRL) rapidly established itself as a technology and market leader in providing advanced embedded memory intellectual property (IP) for the design of complex integrated circuits. Today, as the semiconductor industry's trusted IP partner, the company is a leading provider of physical IP solutions including embedded memories, logic, and I/Os. Through its recent acquisition of Ingot Systems, the company has expanded its product offering to include Application Specific IP (ASIP) solutions such as Double Data Rate (DDR) Memory Controllers and design services. The company is also pioneering the development of a new class of IP called Silicon Aware IP(TM). Silicon Aware IP tightly integrates Physical IP with the embedded test, diagnostic, and repair capabilities of Infrastructure IP to help ensure manufacturability and optimized yield at the advanced process nodes. Virage Logic's highly differentiated product portfolio provides higher performance, lower power, higher density and optimal yield to foundries, integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) and fabless customers who develop products for the consumer, communications and networking, hand-held and portable, and computer and graphics markets. The company uses its FirstPass-Silicon Characterization Lab(TM) for certain products to help ensure high quality, reliable IP across a wide range of foundries and process technologies. The company also prides itself on providing superior customer support and was named the 2006 Customer Service Leader of the Year in the Semiconductor IP Market by Frost & Sullivan. Headquartered in Fremont, California, Virage Logic has R&D, sales and support offices worldwide. For more information, visit www.viragelogic.com.
