- Objective:
- To cope up with the growing complexities and introduction of new standards in telecommunication domain, standard-testing methodologies like TTCN has been introduced and widely accepted. Various test tools providing run environment for testing, normally log the events flow in proprietary text format and is often difficult to interpret. There is a need to present the message flow logged in text format in more meaningful pictorial representation.
- Message Tracer provides visual presentation of flow of messages between communicating processes in chronological order.
- Features:
- 1) Standalone/plug-in component
- MS is Java based and can be either used as stand-alone component or can be integrated with other third party test tools.
- 2) Platform independent
- MS is developed in Java and so is platform independent.
- 3) Standard Interface
- Message Tracer addresses the interoperability issues among the various proprietary log file formats of test tools vendors by providing an standard interface based on open standards.
- 4) Online/Offline View
- Message Tracer has been designed to plot the messages in real-time, as they get logged in the log files. It also provides the facility to view the message flow offline when the test is over.
- 5) Filtering of Messages
- Offline view provides facility for the user to select and view only a set of messages, based on configurable filters. Message Tracer provides the filtering capability based on message names, time stamps as well as the origination and destination entities.
- 6) Viewing Log Files
- Message Tracer also provides facility to view the log files generated by the test tools in both online and offline mode.
- 7) Simultaneous viewing
- Message Tracer provides separate user screens for online tracer, Offline tracer and Log files, which can be viewed simultaneously.
- 8) Printing
- Message Tracer provides the facility of printing the message trace on the attached printer.
- 9) Saving as HTML/XML
- Message Tracer provides the facility of saving the flow of messages in standard documents like HTML or XML that can be easily sent across web for records or further analysis.
