Intel has just announced that it intends to acquire PC-security giant McAfee for $7.68 billion. This big acquisition reflects how important online computing security has become. There is an imperative need to better protect the billions of internet-ready devices when they go online.

Intel President and Chief Executive Paul Otellini said, “In the past, energy-efficient performance and connectivity have defined computing requirements. Looking forward, security will join those as a third pillar of what people demand from all computing experiences.”
