With all the great news from AMD, ARM, Intel, Marvel, Samsung, ST-Ericsson, TI and others now in the recent past, I thought I would post a some commentary on the key determinate of hardware success as I see it. I have given it all away in the title of this post! It’s software!

People buy devices to do “stuff”. This functionality is delivered via applications and adoption is limited by end-user pricing and availability. Given the costs and activity we see today, demand is obviously incredibly strong.
