True cinema TV's, not 3D will drive future HDMI specsThe Eyes Have it : A Mixed-signal IP Blog - Navraj Nandra, SynopsysOct. 18, 2012 |
As the consumer electronic devices are increasingly becoming multimedia intensive, the evolution of connectivity protocols will play a key role in shaping the future of these devices. With over 1150 adopters and an install base of ~2 Billion devices, HDMI continues to be the primary multimedia connectivity interface for the world of consumer electronics. The next generation HDMI is currently being architected by the HDMI forum members. As stated in my previous blogs, HDMI forum is an open standard body, and any willing HDMI adopter can join the forum and participate to define the next generation HDMI. As a result, both CE and PC companies have joined this forum, and are working together to seek convergence between CE and PC devices. Currently HDMI forum has about 80 members and is growing at a rapid pace.
