Synopsys DesignWare IP Enables Full-Service SoC Design Foundry for Global UniChip
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and HSINCHU, Taiwan – April 26, 2005- Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), a world leader in semiconductor design software, and Global UniChip (GUC), a leader in advanced full-service design foundry, today announced that GUC has chosen Synopsys' DesignWare® intellectual property (IP) for use in GUC's complex system-on-chip (SoC) designs. The multi-year agreement gives GUC access to the wide portfolio of industry-leading DesignWare connectivity IP for standards such as PCI Express™ and USB protocols, as well as Synopsys' DesignWare Library building block and verification IP.
"We chose Synopsys because of its leadership in connectivity IP and its broad range of IP offerings," said Jim Lai, COO and president at Global UniChip. "As a leading design foundry, Global UniChip only trusts IP that has been tested and implemented on a wide range of complex SoC designs. Synopsys' reputation and history of deep submicron design success ensures us that their IP is a sound investment that will fit seamlessly into our design flow."
"We are proud that a world class SoC design foundry such as GUC chose the DesignWare portfolio of quality IP for their cutting-edge submicron designs," said Guri Stark vice president of Marketing, Solutions Group at Synopsys. "DesignWare silicon-proven IP will help enable GUC and their customers to reduce risk, cost, and time to market of their SoC designs."
Synopsys and GUC will be participating at the worldwide TSMC Symposiums beginning April 26, 2005 in San Jose, California.
