LSI Logic Offers Do-254 Certification Support for RapidChip(R) Platform ASIC Aerospace System Designs
- Aerospace and avionics customers have access to the processes, systems and qualified engineers required to achieve DO-254 certification
- As the first semiconductor supplier granted membership into the European DO-254 User Group, LSI Logic leads industry in defining DO-254 qualification best practices
- LSI Logic enhances its aerospace capabilities to produce leading-edge digital logic technology for commercial and military aviation customers
"LSI Logic has several competitive advantages in the military and aerospace market, not the least of which is our process and systems knowledge," said John Bendekovic, director of military and aerospace marketing and business development for LSI Logic. "We are making use of that knowledge to integrate our RapidChip Platform ASIC offering into supporting DO-254 certification. We have the processes, people and systems in place to make DO-254 certification easier and faster for our customers."
The Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA) DO-254 standard titled "Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware" was developed by the avionics industry to establish hardware deployment guidelines for developers, verification engineers, quality managers, installers, and users from conception through initial certification and subsequent post certification product improvements. As the first semiconductor supplier granted membership into the European (EU) DO-254 User Group, LSI Logic is leading the semiconductor industry in defining DO-254 qualification best practices.
Commenting on the importance of DO-254 certification support, Lionel Burgaud, current head of the EU DO-254 User Group said, "DO-254 is an emerging guidance document and we collaborate to cross experiences and expertise in order to have a very practical approach for project management and tool-supported processes. By having LSI Logic as part of the EU DO-254 User Group, we gain the critical perspective of an experienced supplier."
"We are delighted to be a member of the EU DO-254 User Group, giving our commercial and military aviation customers the confidence that LSI Logic is investing in the tools and methodology dedicated to helping them comply with the rigorous DO-254 certification," added Bill Parent, DO-254 program manager for LSI Logic. "When choosing a technology supplier for the military and aerospace markets, it is important to select one with focus and commitment."
