Altera and Mango DSP Announce Bluejay Video Processing Board Featuring Stratix II FPGAs
San Jose, Calif., June 13, 2005—Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) and Mango DSP Incorporated, a leading maker of high-performance digital signal processing (DSP) development boards, today announced the immediate availability of the Bluejay Compact PCI (CPCI) card for high-performance video processing applications. Featuring four Altera® Stratix® II EP2S130 devices, 4 Gigabytes of SDRAM, and up to 16 Texas Instrument’s TMS320C6415 DSP processors each running at 1 GHz, the CPCI card can handle DSP intensive algorithms that require true multi-processing.
“Offering CPCI cards based on Altera’s industry-leading Stratix II FPGAs provides our customers the highest performance development platform for the latest video applications,” said Joel Rotem, Mango DSP’s director of technical sales. “The Bluejay utilizes the superior signal processing capabilities of Stratix II FPGAs to double the performance of the DSP cards. The Bluejay continues to demonstrate Mango’s leadership in FPGA-based video processing solutions.”
The Bluejay CPCI card is the newest member of Mango DSP’s line of 6U CPCI cards that serve the growing needs of the DSP markets. The Bluejay supports PCI 66/64 as well as a rear I/O transition card, which can provide any type of digital I/O via a LVDS interface. The card is ideal for the development of broadcast-quality H.264/AVC encoding at 1080p, as well as for video conferencing applications where thousands of video streams need to be transcoded.
“Mango DSP’s Bluejay card provides developers with a tremendous amount of processing power and scalability for leading edge DSP system development,” said Brian Jentz, Altera’s DSP marketing manager. “The combination of our Stratix II devices with Mango DSP’s unique board architecture will enable customers to meet the challenging requirements of the highest performance video applications not previously feasible in real time.”
Designers can visit Mango’s DSP booth at Altera’s Code:DSP Video, Image, and Signal Processing Seminar series being held in North America and Europe. The full-day seminar brings together top companies and leading-edge products that help designers boost DSP performance and lower overall costs for their next-generation FPGA-based system architectures.
