ARC International Passes 100th Licensee Milestone
ELSTREE, England, June 15, 2005 – ARC International (LSE: ARK), the world leader in configurable CPU/DSP processor cores and application subsystems, today announced that it has exceeded 100 licensees of its patented configurable SoC technology. ARC International passed this milestone because of the growing demand by silicon designers for configurable processor cores and subsystems that enable the design of value-added and cost-effective SoCs ideally suited for high-volume applications. ARC's licensees include systems OEMs and semiconductor companies, such as Broadcom, Fujitsu, Infineon, IPWireless, LeapFrog, SanDisk, Siano Mobile Silicon, Sony, UPEK and TTPCom.
"ARC International is leading the configurable revolution by providing patented technology for configurable SoC solutions which combine maximum product differentiation with optimum cost-efficiency," said Derek Meyer, vice president of marketing for ARC International. "ARC's growing licensee list of more than 100 individual companies underscores the increasing adoption of configurable technology for the design of a range of consumer, storage and networking applications."
ARC's Patented Configurable Technology
ARC's configurable processor technology enables designers to create SoCs that are highly optimized to the end application. Using ARC's easy-to-use ARChitect™ Processor Configurator, licensees can reduce overall die size and power consumption by removing unneeded features in the core. Designers also can greatly increase application efficiency by defining custom extensions to accelerate critical code using ARC's Extension Wizard. The result is a cost-effective SoC, optimized for low power and application performance.
