Datang Selects Comsys' GSM/GPRS Solution for its Cellular Baseband Product Line
DMT will incorporate Comsys' GSM/GPRS full layer 1 solution in its COMIP(TM) SoC product line, starting from the COMIP(TM) PRO platform. The integrated solution will enable handset manufacturers using DMT's COMIP(TM) to design multi-standard handsets supporting the complete range of GSM technologies.
GSM based network is the most prevalent technology used in China today, with a subscriber base of over 300 million. DMT's product line will be released to market early 2006.
Comsys' solution includes a full GSM/GPRS layer 1 software. Designed specifically as a full multi-protocol system, the solution eliminates inefficiencies and faults that typically result from patches on legacy solutions. It provides high performance of up to 8dB above standard requirements. Its advanced algorithms enable designers to minimize resource allocation such as memory size, gate count and power, allowing resources to be allocated to other tasks.
Elkana Ben-Sinai, Comsys CEO commented, "Comsys is proud to be selected by DMT, a leading Chinese telecom equipment & chipset vendor, for its COMIP(TM) PRO chipset. Comsys' solution is designed to support multi-mode architecture and as such, will be easily implemented on DMT's dual mode chip, enabling a smooth path to a 3G network."
Yang Yanhui, the Vice President and CTO of DMT, said, "We chose Comsys and their IP for the completeness of the solution, as well as the extensive breadth of experience and knowledge of their engineers. Comsys' team is very supportive of our project and we anticipate an extremely productive working relationship."
