Accelerated Technology's Nucleus RTOS Support for Texas Instruments OMAP Platform Benefits Portable Data Terminal Applications Developers
MOBILE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 2005 -- Accelerated Technology, a Mentor Graphics division, today announced the availability of the Nucleus® real-time operating system (RTOS) for the Texas Instruments' (TI) OMAP5912(TM) processor. The integration of the Nucleus software and TI's OMAP5912 processor gives developers a full-featured, high-performance foundation on which to develop portable data terminal (PDT) applications for markets including portable medical devices, asset and inventory management, point of sale and enterprise applications.
The OMAP5912 processor offers in a single integrated device the low-power, real-time processing capabilities of a digital signal processor (DSP) with the command and control functionality of an ARM® processor. Designed for devices that require a robust man/machine interface, as well as secure communication, analysis and interpretation, the OMAP5912 processor contains an extensive peripheral set, embedded hardware encryption engines and multibus architecture for PDT system-level optimization. Combined with the scalable Nucleus RTOS, members of TI's OMAP(TM) developer network now have the robust foundation needed to design feature-rich PDT applications.
The Nucleus SHELL command line interface is also available for developers using the OMAP5912 processor.
"Accelerated Technology enhances the capabilities of the TI OMAP processors and meets the need for a robust and real-time operating system in the PDT market by providing the Nucleus RTOS on the OMAP platform," said Greg Mar, worldwide systems-on-a-chip platform manager, TI.
"This support continues our long relationship with TI and the OMAP series of processors. The combination of the OMAP5912 and Nucleus RTOS offers a very compelling offer to developers in the growing data terminal market, offering them reliability, high performance and a rich feature set on which to build application software," said Robert Day, director of marketing, Mentor Graphics Embedded Systems Division.
