Trondheim, Norway - June 28, 2005 - Nordic Semiconductor ASA (OSE: NOD) today announced that Logitech has selected Nordic's 2.4 GHz RF-chipset for one of its new wireless notebook mice, the Logitechâ V200 Cordless Notebook Mouse. Logitech also uses the nRF24XX family of 2.4 GHz products for the Logitech V500 Cordless Notebook Mouse.
PC control devices are a key target platform for the nRF24XX product line from Nordic. During 2004, Nordic Semiconductor's RF technology was incorporated into several first-generation PC control device designs. In 2005, as many of those first-generation designs are evolving, Nordic's chipsets continue to be a key element of those products. The nRF24XX platform is, among the available 2.4GHz RF solutions, and recognized as the leader in terms of performance, current consumption and value-added features. Logitech is using the nRF2402 and the new nRF2401A for the Logitech V200 Cordless Notebook Mouse.
"By working with the market leader, we can make sure we continue to bring innovative products to the market," said Roger Pedersen, regional sales manager at Nordic Semiconductor, "Logitech's decision to use the nRF24XX platform in the V200 notebook mouse validates the chipset's performance and puts us in a position to develop new products for future collaboration with PC control device companies."
"Our relationship with Nordic was instrumental in the development of both the V500 and the V200 notebook mice," said Ashish Arora, Logitech's vice president of marketing, Retail Pointing Devices. "Long battery life and solid performance are very important features for mobile users who are considering a new notebook mouse purchase. Working with Nordic, Logitech has been able to optimize the Nordic nRF24XX platform to meet those needs."
About the Logitech V200 Cordless Notebook Mouse
The Logitech V200 Cordless Notebook Mouse combines unmatched battery life of up to one year with virtually interference-free 2.4 GHz digital cordless technology - making it ideal for mobile professionals who need the best wireless technology and don't want to hassle with changing batteries frequently. The V200 includes a miniature USB wireless receiver that is paired individually with the mouse during manufacturing. When the receiver is plugged in, the mouse works immediately. When not in use, the USB receiver conveniently snaps onto the base of the mouse. This action automatically switches the mouse power off, saving battery life, while also making the mouse and receiver easy to transport.
