Accelerated Technology’s Nucleus IPsec Encrypts and Safeguards Sensitive Data Sent Over the Internet
MOBILE, Ala., July 6, 2005 - Accelerated Technology, a Mentor Graphics division (Nasdaq: MENT), today announced the Nucleus® Internet protocol security (IPsec) software, an embedded solution that provides data authentication and encryption over the Internet at the IP level. Embedded developers building defense applications and network equipment like routers and virtual private network (VPN) gateways can now implement the Nucleus IPsec software into their solutions to secure users' privacy.
The Nucleus IPsec software seamlessly integrates with the IPv4 layer and IPv6 layer of the Nucleus NET TCP/IP stack. This eliminates the need to modify any other layers of the open system interconnection (OSI) model (data link, transport and applications layers), in turn saving precious developers' resources to rewrite or modify their existing applications to secure IP traffic. Other Nucleus components available to developers are the Nucleus PLUS real-time kernel and the Nucleus Cipher Suite product including the Nucleus Cipher AES and the Nucleus L2TP software.
"The need for Internet security continues to increase as more and more embedded designers add network connectivity to their applications. The introduction of Nucleus IPsec software to the Nucleus networking portfolio is the answer to network security these designers are looking for," said Robert Day, director of marketing, Accelerated Technology Division, Mentor Graphics. "Whether adding IP security to an existing or a brand new design, the Nucleus IPsec software can seamlessly be dropped into the application."
Protection mechanisms provided by the Nucleus IPsec software are data origin authentication, data integrity, data confidentiality, anti-replay protection and limited traffic flow confidentiality. Through its administrative application programming interfaces (APIs), applications can manipulate the association and policy databases, affecting how traffic flows are protected as well as creating/destroying IPsec tunnels.
A management information database (MIB) is provided with the Nucleus IPsec software, allowing for remote configuration and monitoring of the IPsec module. Realizing the varying needs of different embedded designs, the Nucleus IPsec software comes with a wide variety of authentication and encryption algorithms. In addition, the Nucleus IPsec software includes support for the Internet key exchange (IKE) protocol, which is used to establish dynamic, on-the-fly associations between two IP nodes discarding the need for manual keying.
The Nucleus IPsec software is also fully conformant with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) IPsec specifications, ensuring inter-operability with other implementations. To help achieve a high level of conformance and inter-operability, the Nucleus IPsec software has been tested against Ixia's Automate Network Validation Library (ANVL), which contains almost 500 test cases for IPsec/IKE alone, as well as tested against FreeBSD, Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server and Feudora Linux.
Pricing and Availability
The Nucleus embedded software is sold in source code format and without royalty fees. Licenses for the Nucleus IPsec software begin at U.S. $19,995. For more information, please contact Accelerated Technology at 800-468-6853.
