Intel, ARM, Virata, and others invest in Bluetooth chip maker Cambridge Silicon Radio

CAMBRIDGE, England -- Bluetooth-enabled chip specialist Cambridge Silicon Radio Ltd. (CSR) here announced it has received $34 million in funding from a number investors, including ARM Ltd., Intel Corp., Virata Ltd., and others. The other investors in the company include 3i, Alps, Amadeus, Capital Research, Gilde, Mustang Ventures, Razorfish, and Wavecom. CSR will use the funds raised to further invest in the development of its single-chip Bluetooth solution, dubbed BlueCore, said John Hodgson, chief executive of CSR. "This new round of funding will allow us to rapidly expand the business and increase our presence in key markets on a global basis," he said.
