picoTurbo Announces Excellent Third Quarter Results
Third Quarter Revenues Double Those of Second Quarter
MILPITAS, CA – November 8, 2000 -- picoTurboÔ , Inc., a premier developer of 16/32-bit RISC embedded microprocessor cores for embedded applications, announced today that its third quarter results continued to build on a solid second quarter by doubling second quarter revenue. Highlights of the third quarter included licensing their 19th core microprocessor, contracting with Premier Microelectronics Sales, Inc. to represent picoTurbo in Taiwan and the designation by UMC as a member of their Gold IP Program for select partners.
The picoTurbo DesignerNetÔ program was also announced during third quarter. It was established to meet the growing requirements for picoTurbo system-on-chip (SOC) designs by certified design partners. This program increases the number of picoTurbo- trained designers that have the tools, training and experience to implement quality picoTurbo-based SOC designs. As part of the picoTurbo DesignerNet program, partners have access to picoTurbo technology, product promotions and services, as well as technical support and joint marketing opportunities.
Chip Stearns, CEO of picoTurbo, stated, "We are gratified by the continued success we have enjoyed during third quarter, as we gain ground in the fast-growing microprocessor segment of the SOC market. Our products have had excellent customer acceptance, led by the pT-110 and PT-110 microprocessor cores and followed by the recent introduction of the pT-120 (introduced Oct. 10 at the Microprocessor Forum). All of them are able to run ARMÒ (version 4T) instructions, providing an attractive time and money saver for customers. Excitement over the pT-120 core encourages us to believe that the best is still ahead."
Jim Tully, Chief Analyst, Semiconductor Group, Dataquest, stated, "Dataquest forecasts the market for semiconductor intellectual property to grow at 46% CAGR to a value of $2.9 billion in 2004. This, coupled with the success of the ARM instruction set clearly creates opportunities for ARM-compatible processor core vendors."
