AMI Semiconductor Opens Offshore Center in India for Worldwide Design Support
Bangalore Center Taps Local Engineering Talent and Enhances Silicon Design Capabilities for Automotive, Medical and Industrial Applications
Pocatello, Idaho - July 25, 2005 - AMI Semiconductor, a designer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art integrated mixed-signal and structured digital products, has expanded its design and development capabilities with the opening of an offshore design center in India. Based in Bangalore, the new design center further enhances AMI Semiconductor’s capabilities in designing ASIC and ASSP silicon solutions for automotive, medical and industrial applications.
The center has been established in partnership with Indian product design specialist TATA ELXSI Ltd. and is based at the TATA ELXSI premises in Bangalore. In addition to increasing its worldwide engineering resources, the center also further strengthens AMIS methodologies in the area of design verification.
“Choosing to create a new design facility in India gives us access to a large pool of talented resources that can support our growing worldwide design and development requirements,” said Tony Denayer, senior vice president of product development for AMIS. “Setting up long-term partnerships is part of the AMIS approach to reaching our growth objectives, and TATA ELXSI is a strong partner with solid expertise in silicon design and verification.”
“This dedicated offshore center will help nurture technologies and talents that we can deploy to ensure growth of the AMIS partnership and derive the best results,” said Madhukar Dev, managing director of TATA ELXSI. “We believe our experience in the automotive, medical and industrial automation field will drive rapid successes.”
The design center is staffed by TATA ELXSI engineers working under the leadership of Erik Nilson Comparini. Erik has been with AMIS for 14 years. Before moving to Bangalore he was the manager of the AMIS Munich Design Center.
