China Semiconductor Industry Association Signs Agreement to Base Standards on VSI Alliance Standards
Wakefield, MA. USA and Beijing, China– August 22, 2005 – The VSI Alliance (VSIA), the electronic industry’s IP and SoC standards body, and the China Semiconductor Industry Association (CSIA) have signed an agreement allowing CSIA to base its Semiconductor IP standards on the VSIA standards. The agreement allows the CSIA to create Chinese language standards based on VSIA’s standards and to distribute them throughout China. The VSIA and CSIA will also establish a China VSI Alliance Special Interest Group (CSIG). The Agreement allows a select group of 35 companies to access the English-language versions of the VSIA standards and specifications.
“Given the tremendous growth and success in the Chinese electronics industry, we believe that the CSIA members will benefit from the adoption of VSIA industry SIP standards,” said Michael Kaskowitz, VSIA President. “We look forward to their participation through the China Special Interest Group as together we create new standards and create revisions of existing standards.”
“We decided to base our standards on the VSIA standards because we understand the advantages of conforming to International standards as we compete effectively in this global market,” said Yizheng Ye, Chair of China IP Standard Working Group. “We look forward to actively participating in the VSIA through our CSIG.”
About CSIG
CSIG is the China VSIA Special Interest Group. The purpose of CSIG is to facilitate the development of China IP-Reuse Standards, based on VSIA’s documents and to then promote these standards and VSIA itself within China.
About VSIA
The VSI Alliance (VSIA) is an open, international organization that includes representatives from all segments of the SoC industry: System houses, Semiconductor vendors, Electronic Design Automation (EDA) companies, and Intellectual Property (IP) providers. VSIA’s mission is to dramatically enhance the productivity of the SoC design community by providing leading edge commercial and technical solutions and insight into the development, integration and reuse of IP. VSIA has wide industry participation with more than 70 member companies from around the world. Membership is open to any company with an interest in the development and promotion of business solutions and open standards used in the design of System-on-Chip.
