BANGALORE, India GDA Technologies Inc., a nine-year-old electronic design services and IP licensing company, said it plans to raise $10 million in venture funding to expand its two existing design centers in India and create a third here. GDA has engineering centers here and in Chennai, with marketing operations based in the U.S. It’s portfolio covers system services, IC solutions, reference design and IP blocks. It employs 225 staffers in India. GDA said it will seek to kick-start expansion in a bid to increase sales to $50 million within three years while doubling its staff. “So far we have financed our growth through profits, but we plan an initial public offering a couple of years down the line. We also plan to take up board design, embedded software development and later IC design at our new center in Kochi,” said Ravi Thummarukudy, vice president and general manager, IC solutions division, GDA Technologies, (San Jose, Calif.). GDA’s most recent IP block is an advanced switching IP core, which is targeted for both PCI Express and Advanced Switching technology implementations. GDA recently set up an offshore development center for NetEffect Inc. (Austin, Texas) to provide design integration and verification services. Other customers include Intel, Freescale Semiconductor, Fujitsu and Cisco Systems. Earlier this year, GDA sold its digital core IP assets and transferred several engineers at its Bangalore center as part of the deal with Rambus, Inc., (Los Altos, Calif.).
