New York, NY, USA -- September 20, 2005 -- Achronix Semiconductor Corporation announces the first successful prototype of its Achronix-ULTRA® line of high speed Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). The Achronix FPGA, based on a commercially available CMOS technology, operates at speeds of over 650MHz, at lower power than state-of-the-art FPGA products from leading programmable logic vendors. “This is a critical first step in the development of our Achronix-ULTRA line, and we accomplished all this using an older 180 nm fabrication process. At 90nm, we should at least double our performance,” said Dr. Rajit Manohar, Chief Technology Officer of Achronix. The first product in the Achronix-ULTRA line will be released in the second quarter of 2006 and will operate at speeds over 1 GHz. John Lofton Holt, Achronix Chairman and CEO, said of the prototype success, “Our products will shift the delicate market balance between FPGAs and Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) – A $7B global market annually. By offering performance of well over 1GHz by mid-2006, we will open up a previously inaccessible market for FPGAs, and dominate that market.” For more information, visit http://www.achronix.com.
