Embeddia to reveal its DVB-T and DVB-H IP product family offering
September 27, 2005 -- Embeddia, the one-stop-shop silicon IP provider, introduces its innovative DVB-T Silicon IP (SIP) solution, the EMB6000 while announcing its evolutive DVB-H IP product EMB6500 for Q4 2005.
Embeddia EMB6000 DVB-T technology is leveraging on more than 12 years of large field experience in digital terrestrial channel reception. EMB6000 terrestrial IP product enables and guarantees digital TV reception with excellent performances whatever the difficult terrestrial channel impairments such as multiple dynamic echoes, fading, impulsive noise or analogue channel interferences. “EMB6000 DVB-T channel decoder silicon IP is the only innovative IP solution that guarantees customer to receive quality terrestrial TV with optimum performances yet low cost solution” explains Jean-Marc Guyot, Embeddia Executive Director.
EMB6000 technology, embedded in a single FPGA, is demonstrated at IBC with life video pictures on a tiny platform. This platform is also provided to customers enabling them to run their own set of performance tests in their environment. This is particularly important, knowing that with the increase of semiconductor design costs, ICs and SoC must be right-first-time to generate economic value. “In such a complex transmission media, ensuring that our IPs can be characterized in the field before taping-out the IC greatly secures our customers” he added. Besides, EMB6000 DVB-T IP can be very rapidly ported by Embeddia’s engineers to any semiconductor technology.
Accelerating its product introduction pace, Embeddia who aims to extend its product portfolio to terrestrial mobile reception for the global market, draws on its DVB-T SIP product to rapidly develop its DVB-H IP EMB6500 for TV on mobile reception. EMB6500 silicon IP will have a particular focus on minimizing overall front-end power consumption through Embeddia newly introduced concept of “Dynamic Power Scaling”. Embeddia DPS technology provides the mean for the demodulator to drive the power of the RF chip in a clever way, hence significantly reducing system power consumption. Special focused efforts on innovative and dedicated algorithms for mobile reception in very difficult environment and/or large Doppler conditions are being developed by Embeddia’s engineers to make EMB6500 IP product the DVB-H demodulator of reference.
EMB6500 will be introduced in the market in November this year on Embeddia’s FPGA platform. This product is expected by several semiconductors companies to expand their offers and feed the consumer market with quality global system solutions.
