LG Electronics Licensed SD memory and SDIO Controller from Eureka Technology
LOS ALTOS, Calif. – September 27th, 2005 – LG Electronics, a leading developer of HDTV and digital TV electronics, has licensed Secure Data (SD memoryTM and SDIOTM) controller core from Eureka Technology Inc., a leader in system connectivity semiconductor intellectual property (IP) cores. With its small form factor and high performance, SD memory cards and SDIO cards has become the de-facto industry standard in consumer electronics, ranging from digital camera, MP3 audio, to wireless data applications.
“To stay in the cutting edge of DTV technologies requires LG Electronics to develop products with the highest performance peripheral connectivity while keeping a very small form factor,” said Seung-Jong Choi, vice president, DTV Lab., LG Electronics. “The use of SD memory and SDIO controller IP core from Eureka Technology helps us to develop products quickly and greatly reduces our development cost. We have licensed several IP cores from Eureka Technology in the past and we are very pleased with the qualities and the results.”
"The SD memory and SDIO controller IP core exemplifies our dedication in system connectivity technologies," said Simon Lau, president of Eureka Technology. "This core is built upon our experience in system peripheral bus, CPU interface and data connectivity in System-on-Chip (SoC) designs. We are very pleased that this core meets all performance requirements and is well received by our customers"
The SD memory and SDIO controller IP core supports the latest specification published by SD Card Association. It is backward compatible with MultiMedia CardTM standard and supports DMA data transfer and CRC for high-speed and reliable data applications. This controller core also features AMBATM AHBTM interface and a generic user interface for flexible connection to the system. Option to support CompactFlashTM standard is also available. Like all Eureka IP cores, the SD memory and SDIO controller core can be implemented in any ASIC and FPGA technologies. The core is available immediately in Verilog, VHDL, and FPGA netlist formats.
