Silterra and Goyatek Form Design Alliance
Kulim, Malaysia and Hsinchum Taiwan (September 28, 2005) – Silterra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. and Goyatek today announced that the companies have entered into an agreement to jointly develop and support fabless semiconductor customers worldwide. Goyatek will provide complete integrated circuit (IC) design and silicon intellectual property (IP) service while Silterra will provide wafer foundry services. The companies plan to focus on product designs requiring process technologies at 0.18- and 0.13-micron and below.
“Customers have multiple requirements and Goyatek, with our total customer satisfaction philosophy, is now able to provide a complete solution with the addition of the Silterra partnership,” said David Chung, President of Goyatek. “Our goal is to provide the best–in-class solutions and services, from design through wafer fabrication to final assembly and testing, to our customers. We anticipate the partnership with Silterra will further strengthen our market leadership position.”
Silterra, a leading wafer foundry headquartered in Malaysia, provides world-class CMOS technology manufacturing capability. Goyatek is a top-tier design service provider located in Taiwan with extensive IC and IP design experience in numerous application segments.
“Our alliance with Goyatek enables us to expand our customer base and raise our support level significantly,” said Bruce Gray, Chief Executive Officer of Silterra. “Our superior, leading foundry matched technologies fit very well with Goyatek’s immense design capabilities. The synergy between the companies will provide enormous benefits to our customers.”
The complexity of today’s system-on-chip (SoC) designs requires engineers with technical expertise in a wide range of areas. The specialization not only fosters the interdependence of semiconductor suppliers and design service providers, but also makes the close relationship between the design company and wafer foundry paramount. Through this partnership, Goyatek is able to provide ASIC turnkey services with designs that take full advantage of Silterra’s advanced process technologies for the best yield and shortest time to market.
