Imagination Technologies demonstrates leading mobile gaming 3D Technology at Austin Games Developers Conference 2005
October 27th, Austin, Texas, USA: Imagination Technologies, a leader in system-on-chip intellectual property (SoC IP), will be demonstrating advanced IP for mobile 3D gaming at the Austin Games Developers Conference 2005 (Stand 628).
PowerVR, Imagination Technologies’ groundbreaking graphics technology, has now succeeded in bringing console-class gaming to the mobile world. A wide range of PowerVR enabled game content will be on display at the event, including Quake Mobile.
Widespread acceptance of PowerVR by the world's top silicon companies is creating a new, pervasive mobile gaming platform. This has been eagerly adopted by leading mobile device manufacturers and service providers including: NEC, SHARP, Panasonic, Sony Ericsson, Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, SK Teletech, NTT DoCoMo (FOMA) and Dell.
A range of games titles is already available supporting PowerVR MBX, including: Quake Mobile (Pulse Interactive Inc.), Quake 3 Arena (NoctemWare), Chopper Fight (OmniG Software Inc.), 3D Speed City (OmniG Software Inc.), GeoRallyEX (IonFx), Toy Golf (Fathammer Ltd.), Stuntcar Extreme (Fathammer Ltd.), Solterra (Blacksmith Studios), Enigmo (Aspyr Media Inc.), Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (Aspyr Media Inc.), Virtual Pool Mobile (Celeris), Jackpot Casino (Mobile Stream), Yeti 3D Engine (Intuitex), Cube Engine (SourceForge), Stuntplane (Fathammer Ltd.), XNowBoard Challenger, Winning Lap (WakyToky), 3D Field Golf (WakyToky), The Punisher (THQ) and Moto GP2 (THQ).
Imagination Technologies, one of the world’s top ten IP companies (source: Gartner), provides PowerVR IP cores to partners including Freescale, Intel, Philips, Renesas, Samsung, Sunplus and Texas Instruments.
Says David McBrien, VP Business Development, Imagination Technologies: “PowerVR MBX is a significant step forward for mobile graphics and has been adopted by six of the top ten semiconductor vendors for their next generation mobile application processors. Indeed, PowerVR is the de facto standard today for advanced mobile graphics.”
PowerVR MBX delivers massive triangle and fill rates along with full 3D features such as skinning, FSAA, curved surfaces, per-pixel lighting and texture compression. PowerVR SGX, newly available for licensing, is part of the PowerVR Series5 scalable and fully programmable universal shader graphics and video core family. With state-of-the-art support for 2D and 3D PowerVR SGX has an industry-leading feature set that exceeds OGL 2.0 shader and Microsoft Vertex and Pixel Shader Model 3 requirements.
