Denali Extends IP Quality Leadership Role Through Participation in VSI Alliance Quality IP Metric Program
PALO ALTO, Calif., January 9, 2006 -- Denali Software today announced that it has successfully completed the VSI Alliance (VSIA) QIP (Quality IP) Metric Version 2.0 beta program, further extending its position as the leading provider of quality intellectual property (IP). QIP Beta Testing was conducted on Denali's Databahn DDR memory controller IP from June through December 2005.
Simultaneously, the VSI Alliance (VSIA) today announced availability of the QIP Metric Version 2.0, a tool that can reduce the time required to make an IP purchase decision and to integrate it.
Says Mike Kaskowitz, VSIA president: "Version 2.0 of the QIP Metric is a significant milestone that we achieved through open collaboration with a number of key IP providers and consumers. Denali is recognized as a leading provider of high-quality IP products, and we are very pleased with their contributions to our beta program."
The QIP Metric helps IP vendors and consumers communicate through an objective foundation. Besides setting up the basis for measuring a core's characteristics against an industry-approved list of attributes, the metric provides a view of the IP vendor's general approach to IP development. This enables a continuous improvement mechanism, and in turn, allows an integrator to evaluate similar cores from competing vendors.

"We invested in a sophisticated development infrastructure to address IP quality from the very beginning," says Marc Greenberg, Denali's technical marketing manager. "In 2005, we made more than 240 unique customer code deliveries of our Databahn memory controller IP. Each one was thoroughly tested and regressed before delivery. Our quality must be high to sustain this level of IP production. Our customers have had a one-hundred percent success with our IP in more than 65 chips, but it's always easier to talk about quality than to show it. The VSIA QIP gives Denali a way to show customers that we are committed to quality IP."
