HelloSoft's GPRS Solution licensed for MIMOS myGP
San Jose, CA, 25 January 2006 - HelloSoft announced today, that its upper layer (L2/L3) GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) stack is licensed by MIMOS Berhad Malaysia, for implementing their myGP cellular terminal. HelloSoft’s GPRS solution consists of innovative and low-complexity patented algorithms for superior performance. HelloSoft’s GPRS is ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) compliant and has been tested extensively with industry-standard system simulators. Rama Rao Sreeramaneni, Co-Founder and VP Asia for HelloSoft stated, "HelloSoft’s GPRS Solution on myGP will assist MIMOS with their next generation designs and we foresee great potential for myGP on a global scale and we are proud to be associated with MIMOS". He further added, "Hellosoft’s GPRS Solution exhibits higher-performance, low-power and lower cost over alternative solutions".
Dr. Ahmed Mabrouk, IC Design Manager at MIMOS Berhad stated, "We are pleased to license HelloSoft’s GPRS upper layer stack for myGP, as it provides optimized implementation of the GPRS protocol stack with features such as, modular and scalable design with high performance and small footprint, inter and intra-layer communication for best performance with clearly defined interfaces between layers. HelloSoft’s GPRS stack will be integrated with MIMOS’ ASIC-based proprietary baseband to constitute full GPRS solution. HelloSoft has been a good partner; they are working with us very closely to integrate their stack with our GPRS-PHY".
HelloSoft’s GPRS protocol stack is optimally implemented on MIMOS’s myGP and enables Class C Mobile stations with Class 2 and 10 multi-slot GPRS services using GSM 900/1800 MHz frequencies. The protocol stack is POSIX compliant and is ported onto a wide variety of operating systems such as Linux, Windows and VxWorks on various platforms. HelloSoft also offers complete solutions for GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and multi-mode Cellular, Wifi, and VoIP solutions for converged wireless networks such as UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) and IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem). MIMOS’s myGP first version GPRS terminal will be used for two main applications: Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and internet connection for 900 and 1800 MHz band. myGP is a multi-slot class 2 GPRS type C device offering up to 42.8Kbps. It has embedded 32 bit application processor enabling rapid tailored customer application development and features multiple interfaces such as RS232, USB, and GPIO connections.
