Accelerated Technology's Nucleus RTOS is the First to Support Tensilica's Six New Diamond Standard Processor Cores
MOBILE, Ala., March 7, 2006 -Accelerated Technology®, a Mentor Graphics division (Nasdaq: MENT), today announced that the Nucleus® Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) is the first to support all six of Tensilica's new Diamond Standard processor cores. This support provides embedded developers using Diamond Standard processors with a proven, royalty-free software environment in which to build a wide variety of applications including consumer electronics and network management systems.
"The Nucleus PLUS RTOS has been the most requested RTOS by our Xtensa configurable processor customers, and we expect an even stronger reception from those using our Diamond Standard processors," stated Chris Jones, Tensilica's strategic alliances manager. "Our customers appreciate the efficiency of this RTOS and its ease-of-use."
The Nucleus RTOS, widely deployed in millions of designs globally, is robust, scalable and has a minimal memory footprint. The Nucleus RTOS family of products consists of a complete line of middleware products including networking, USB, graphics and file system libraries, providing everything a developer needs to quickly and easily create a wide variety of applications.
"We are pleased to support Tensilica's exciting new Diamond Standard processor family," said Glen Johnson, product marketing manager, Accelerated Technology division, Mentor Graphics. "This new family should be particularly interesting for embedded designers building portable devices, as the power requirements are the lowest around for 32-bit processors."
Tensilica's Diamond Standard processor family includes six cores, all of which lead the industry in their respective categories both in lowest power and highest performance. The processor family is based on Tensilica's proven Xtensa configurable and extensible processor architecture, used in over 250 chip designs by over 80 customers.
