SigmaTel Launches New Software Development Kit for STMP3600 Portable Media SoC
AUSTIN, Texas--March 9, 2006--SigmaTel, Inc. (NASDAQ:SGTL), a leader in mixed-signal multimedia semiconductors, today launched its new Software Development Kit (SDK) 4.201 for its fourth-generation System on Chip portable multimedia player solution, the STMP3600. The SigmaTel SDK 4.201 provides customers with a more robust software development environment offering Microsoft(R) PlaysForSure(TM) version 1.2 support for Windows(R) Media (WM) DRM10.

The SigmaTel SDK 4.201 for the STMP3600 offers designers and manufacturers the following features and benefits:
- Microsoft(R) PlaysForSure version 1.2 support for WMDRM10 content
- Ability to store and playback WMDRM10 content from removable media (SD and MMC cards)
- Audio playback with simultaneous JPEG decoding for slideshows and wallpaper
- Standard interface support to add product differentiating features, including Bluetooth functionality
- WMA encode capability
- Industry leading power consumption - up to 70 hours battery life

Availability:
The new SDK 4.2 was made available in limited distribution to SigmaTel STMP3600 beta customers in early January 2006. SDK 4.201 for all other customers is currently available.
