MindTree Bluetooth Protocol Stack Supports Analog Devices' Blackfin Processor
Hannover, Germany, March 10, 2006 – MindTree Consulting, a world leader in Bluetooth silicon and software IP, announced at the CeBIT international show that its v2.0+ EDR Bluetooth protocol stack and application profiles are delivering wireless capabilities within Analog Devices’ Blackfin-based Portable Media Player (PMP) and Hands Free Car Kit reference (HFCK) platforms.
As part of the Analog Devices’ Blackfin platforms, MindTree’s Bluetooth technology enables features such as hands free calling, accessing and synchronizing phone book contacts, transferring photos wirelessly, transferring GPS data for navigation purposes, and using the mobile phone as a dial-up modem for Internet connectivity, on the PMP and HFCK platforms.
Analog Devices General Manager, Software and Systems Technology Group, Mikhael Haidar, said, “Blackfin processors can run multimedia, communications, and control software equally well. Our reference designs capitalize on this unique capability…MindTree provides a mature and proven technology solution for our next-generation, feature-rich PMP and HFCK platforms. With the phenomenal growth of hands-free wireless devices for the worldwide automotive market over the last year, and the explosive growth of personal entertainment devices, we are confident our Blackfin platforms will deliver high-performance infotainment solutions for our consumer and automotive electronics OEM and ODM customers.”
The automotive market is also demanding newer wireless applications such as car diagnostics sent wirelessly to a mechanic’s terminal, MP3 or video file transmission to portable units, rear seat entertainment from a media player-cum-hands-free kit in a car or larger automobile, personal area networking allowing passengers to play multiplayer games, and data synchronization between an in-car unit and handhelds. At CeBIT, Stall 9 Floor B22 Hall 8, MindTree will demonstrate its comprehensive suite of Bluetooth application profiles qualified with the upper layer Bluetooth protocol stack for version 2.0 + EDR, on the Analog Devices’ HFCK and PMP platforms.
MindTree Executive Vice President and CTO, R&D Services, Vinod Deshmukh said, “I am glad that Analog Devices has chosen MindTree for their PMP and HFCK reference-design platforms, a decision that underscores our strong product and service portfolio in wireless technology. I am confident that, together, Analog Devices and MindTree can address the advancing product requirements of automotive and consumer electronics makers and, ultimately, meet the needs of demanding consumers.”
