Actions Semiconductor to License Its Power Meter Technology
The power meter business unit of Actions was established in 2002, and currently accounts for a small percentage of total revenue. This new licensing model should enable the Company to better focus its efforts on the Company's core business of system-on-a-chip ICs and solutions for the portable consumer electronics market. Actions will license its power meter related technology to a technology partner in exchange for royalty fees.
"We will concentrate on our core business of consumer electronics IC and solutions," commented Shao-chuan Li, CTO of Actions Semiconductor. "Our power meter business not only accounts for a small percentage of our total revenue, but it is quite different from our principal line of business in consumer products in terms of customers and value proposition. As the multimedia market continues to grow at a demanding pace, we intend to focus our efforts on the fastest growing areas where we can leverage our expertise in SoC and multimedia DSP solutions," concluded Mr. Li.
