Elliptic Semiconductor licenses its multi-DRM security solution to MtekVision
Update: Synopsys Expands Security Solutions with Acquisition of Elliptic Technologies (June 29, 2015)
OTTAWA, Canada and SEOUL, Korea -- March 30, 2006 - Elliptic Semiconductor today announced that MtekVision has selected Elliptic's multi- DRM security cores for use in its Mobile Multimedia Platform system-on-chip (SoC). MtekVision is a key provider of multi-media SoCs that have gained broad market acceptance.
Richard Beriault, General Manager of MtekVision Canada said "We are very pleased to work with the talented team at Elliptic Semiconductor and integrate their multi-DRM solution into our next generation MMP. We were attracted to Elliptic's solution because it supports not only multiple DRM technologies but is extensible to include IPsec and SSL virtual private network applications which will make the MMP very appealing to both our customers and mobile wireless operators."Digital rights management (DRM) facilitates the secure distribution over the Internet and wireless networks of high value content such as movies, music and ring tones. Several different designs have been developed including Windows Mobile DRM from Microsoft and OMA 2.0 from the Open Mobile Alliance. Wireless operators are able to select from either of these technologies when they choose cell phones based on the MtekVision's new Mobile Multimedia Platform.
"MtekVision has emerged at the pre-eminent provider of multi-media SoCs as can be seen from their spectacular growth," indicated Al Hawtin, Vice- President of Marketing for Elliptic Semiconductor. "It is therefore a great pleasure to be selected as MtekVision's security IP provider and to work alongside MtekVision engineers to bring Elliptic cores into volume production in the MMP."
