Micronas Licenses MOSAID 90nm DDR/DDR2 Memory Controller Solution
OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada – April 25, 2006 - MOSAID Technologies Incorporated (TSX: MSD) announced today that Micronas GmbH has licensed the MOSAID 90nm DDR/DDR2 memory controller solution for use in its advanced System-on-Chip (SoC) products. Micronas will employ the semiconductor intellectual property (SIP) in multiple products to be manufactured at its foundry partners.
Chips implemented with the MOSAID controller can interface to either DDR or DDR2 memory devices at speeds up to 400MHz or 800Mb/s. The MOSAID memory controller solution consists of hard IP, including both SSTL I/O and DLL (Delay Locked Loop) elements, as well as soft IP, which is the controller RTL. The hard and soft IP elements are seamlessly integrated for maximum performance and ease of use, saving considerable engineering effort, cost and risk of integrating these components sourced from various vendors.
"We selected the high-performance MOSAID DDR/DDR2 memory controller because it is a fully integrated solution offering the full performance range of today's memory devices, along with the flexibility to be easily adapted to meet the requirements of our particular applications," said Dirk Wieberneit, Vice President and General Manager of the R&D Consumer ICs Division of Micronas.
"We are pleased that Micronas has chosen to use our semiconductor IP within their SoC products," said Peter Gillingham, Vice President and General Manager of MOSAID's Intellectual Property Division. "MOSAID supports multiple foundries and variant processes to meet the needs of our customers and continues to expand the availability of new silicon-proven memory controller products."
This complete memory controller solution is part of MOSAID's portfolio of SIP products available for license. MOSAID develops and markets a broad line of process-specific SIP products for the world's leading foundries in advanced process technologies. These products include integrated memory controller solutions, a highly configurable Fractional PLL product, and MOSAID Mobilize low power libraries, consisting of standard cells, memory compilers and I/Os. MOSAID SIP products are designed to satisfy today's demanding requirements for high quality, complex SoC designs.
