Faraday and Intelop Enter Partnership for Custom Networking ASIC and Structured ASIC Engagements
Faraday’s Customers Now Have Access to Proven IPs and ASIC Front-End Services from Intelop
Hsinchu, Taiwan and Sunnyvale, California – May 17, 2006 -- Faraday Technology (TAIEX: 3035), a leading ASIC and IP provider, today announced that it has entered a partnership with Intelop Corporation, a total solution semiconductor custom IP developer. Faraday’s ASIC and Structured ASIC customers now have access to proven IPs and services from Intelop to accelerate time to market and reduce design integration risk in implementing designs in the network infrastructure, security and storage markets.
The partnership is particularly strategic to Faraday’s Composer™ series Structured ASIC product initiative. In many instances Faraday’s customers need to design custom logic in the metal programmable cell array (MPCA) sections of the Composer Structured ASIC products; they need silicon IP and expert resources for tailoring an ASIC/ASSP product, and require the corresponding software. Intelop can offer relevant IP blocks, customization and front-end design services and necessary software for the Composer Structured ASIC implementations, complementing Faraday’s back-end design and ASIC manufacturing outsourcing services strengths.
Intelop has developed several “processing engines” that Faraday will leverage in its ASIC design engagements, including a complete deep packet content inspection engine, a 2Gbps TCP/IP offload Engine (TOE), a protocol analysis engine and an email attachment document content inspection engine. These IP components are central to many new ASICs targeting networking, security, and storage markets, while they are fully customizable to meet different customers’ needs. During a joint customer engagement, Intelop has managed the complete integration and customizations of the IP building blocks for the customer, and supplied necessary software drivers for both ASIC and Structured ASIC projects.
“We expect the combination of Intelop’s networking know-how and silicon proven IP and Faraday’s leading ASIC service and Structured ASIC portfolio, will yield complete customized end-to-end ASIC solutions meeting time to market, cost and performance requirements of our customers,” said Christopher Moezzi, VP of Marketing and Business Development for Faraday’s International Business Unit.
“The Composer Structured ASIC platforms offer an unprecedented price/performance advantage, enabling significant cost reduction in networking SoCs,” said Kelly Masood, President and CEO of Intelop. “We are excited about the partnership opportunity with Faraday. I believe the cooperation will bring value-added networking silicon to our combined customer base.”
