Key ASIC and Silterra Partner to Deliver Design-to-Manufacture Services Targeted for Mobile and Consumer Electronics Markets
As part of the collaboration between the two companies, Key ASIC will provide mutual customers access to its wide IP portfolio and design services on Silterra's 0.18- and 0.13-micron CMOS process technologies. This powerful partnership offers customers a cost-effective solution for optimized performance and fast time to market.
"Our study of the market revealed the recent rise of many fabless ASIC companies with foundries and design houses coupling to offer streamlined IDM services," said Kah Yee Eg, founder and CEO of Key ASIC. "Because we have a core competence in low-power and high-performance design and an IP portfolio targeted for consumer applications, Silterra was a natural foundry choice by virtue of its focus in the same market segments and its high-quality silicon process technologies."
Key ASIC will provide customers with its KeySoC(TM) Platform, which provides a high-performance, ARM-based CPU platform and memory blocks for integration of domain-specific IP blocks to design ASICs quickly.
Key ASIC's silicon-proven IP portfolio for portable consumer devices includes a wide variety of mixed-signal blocks and peripheral interfaces for quick integration in applications including PMP/portable games, MP3/digital audio players, digital imaging/video, mobile phones and wireless networking.
Silterra offers CMOS logic and mixed-signal process technologies down to 0.13 micron. As a leading provider of processes for small form factor color display drivers and power management devices, Silterra also offers a portfolio of high-density, high-voltage technologies in 0.20- and 0.18-micron nodes for these high-growth applications.
"Silterra has built a network of very capable design service partners to support our growing customer base," said Bruce Gray, CEO of Silterra. "As a member of the Silterra Design Community, Key ASIC brings a lot of value to our customers by complementing our process and manufacturing capabilities with their design expertise to jointly provide customers with top-quality silicon through a seamless turnkey solution. This is an attractive approach for customers to speed up their time-to-revenue schedule very cost effectively."
