Aware, Inc. Announces PMC-Sierra as New Licensee
“Combining Aware’s field-proven StratiPHY2+ technology with PMC’s leading-edge products for communications applications offers the market a superior ADSL2+ semiconductor solution,” commented Luke Smithwick, Aware’s vice president of DSL licensing. “PMC’s family of production-ready reference designs for residential gateways exceeds the current market technology requirements for the delivery of advanced services such as quad-play, triple-play, video-over-DSL, and IPTV.”
“Aware is regarded as a key source for DSL intellectual property and has achieved broad acceptance through interoperability in the marketplace,” commented Dino Bekis, vice president of marketing and applications for PMC-Sierra’s Communications Products Division. “We chose to work with Aware’s StratiPHY2+ because it contained all the requisite field-proven technology that enabled us to rapidly incorporate ADSL2+ into our new CPE product offerings.”
About StratiPHY2+
StratiPHY2+ is a complete ADSL silicon intellectual property platform, which contains all the requisite technology for semiconductor providers to rapidly integrate the ITU standards ADSL2 (G.992.3) and ADSL2+ (G.992.5) into their product offerings. StratiPHY2+ includes source code for Verilog or VHDL RTL, firmware source code, and reference design information to allow for faster time-to-market for next-generation customer premises solutions. StratiPHY2+ empowers suppliers of network processors, wireless LAN chipset and MPEG decoders to rapidly integrate ADSL, resulting in differentiated value-added products. More than 2 million ADSL2+ CPE units based upon StratiPHY2+ have shipped worldwide.
Aware’s entire line of StratiPHY platforms will be featured in Aware’s booth at GLOBALCOMM 2006 (#16035) from June 5 – 7, 2006 in Chicago. For more information on Aware or StratiPHY2+ please visit Aware’s website at www.aware.com.
PMC-Sierra will be demonstrating its new residential gateway platform in the Company’s “Digital Home Experience” at GLOBALCOMM 2006 (#52043) from June 5 – 7, 2006 in Chicago.
