Global Unichip Presents the Taiwan First Certified High-Speed USB2.0 OTG Solution, UINF-0041
“We are proud to present the Taiwan first certified High Speed USB2.0 OTG Solution,” stated Jim Lai, President and COO of Global Unichip Corp. “Receiving USB-IF’s logo certification further reinforces GUC’s leadership in delivering SoC design services of advanced technology.”
Given interoperability, High Speed USB2.0 OTG truly enables “peer-to-peer” function and target at consumer electronics products. Unlike USB2.0 and USB1.1’s “master-slave” nature, products with High Speed USB2.0 OTG facilitate data transfer rates up to 480 megabits per second (Mbps) on a peer-to-peer basis. It is mainly designed for multimedia products ranging from mobile phone, digital camera, HDTV, portable multimedia player to portable mass-storage device, printer and scanner.
Aiming at saving time for system integration, this High Speed USB2.0 OTG solution offers an un-limited synchronization circuit and a GPrimeTM Platform-based design environment. The USB2.0 OTG Dual Role Controller combines an EHCI Host Controller, a UHCI Host Controller and a configurable USB2.0 Device Controller. It also includes Linux operation system and the relative drivers. Users can fully re-use the default host drivers in Linux OS or WinCE.NET with minor changes. It effectively saves time for host driver developing and verification. Both Pre-IN and Post-IN buffering mechanisms are implemented in USB2.0 device controller to easily reach high performance of 30Mbytes per second. With the AHB interface, customers can smoothly integrate it into their SoC designs. This functionality has been validated on GUC’s G-PrimeTM Platform.
The design kit including FPGA evaluation board, Linux Reference Kernel, Linux Reference Driver, User’s Manual, Synthesizable RTL Code, PHY simulation model, and Test Pattern is now available.
About the USB-IF
USB-IF (USB Implementers Forum, Inc.) is a non-profit corporation founded by the group of companies that developed the Universal Serial Bus specification. The USB-IF was formed to provide a support organization and forum for the advancement and adoption of Universal Serial Bus technology. The Forum facilitates the development of high-quality compatible USB peripherals (devices), and promotes the benefits of USB and the quality of products that have passed compliance testing.
About GPrimeTM Platform
GPrimeTM Platform is an AMBA-based IP/SoC verification platform which validates GUC’s proprietary IPs and third-party IPs. GPrime™ has integrated and verified reusable and expandable IPs—such as ARM testchip, JPEG, MPEG4, H.264, USB1.1/2.0 DC/OTG, Ethernet, TV Encoder, and AMBA Peripherals, on this robust platform running on Linux OS. Customer can easily use GPrimeTM as the fundamental SoC design platform for system prototyping.
