Cosmic Circuits introduces industry's lowest power 10-bit 1MSPS ADC IP-block in 0.13um process
Update: Cadence Completes Acquisition of Cosmic Circuits (May 23, 2013)
Bangalore, India -- May 30, 2006 -- Cosmic Circuits today announces the availability of the CC101SAR, a 10-bit 1MSPS, 1.35mW, low-power ADC IP-block in 0.13um process. The ADC has been specifically designed for extending battery life in mobile and battery powered applications.“While keeping the power low, we have also been able to keep the die-area low, provided useful modes of operation, and designed in calibration circuitry for offset and gain errors” said C. Srinivasan, Vice-President of Engineering at Cosmic Circuits.
Srinivasan further adds that “the CC101SAR is packed into a compact die-area of less than 0.1mm2, thus offering customers the lowest cost solution for monitoring applications in mobile communications and consumer markets. Designed in 0.13um CMOS technology without requiring additional MIM capacitor layers and does not need any external components, thereby keeps the cost of the System-On-Chip low”.
The CC101SAR comes with 8 analog inputs, providing the ability to sense and monitor multiple analog sources that are common in today’s mobile and consumer applications. The high-accuracy of the ADC with an INL of less than +/- 2LSB turns out to be the right choice for designers looking for that extra bit of battery life and cost reduction.
The ADC comes with a built-in sample-and-hold and runs at a maximum rate of 1MSPS. Running off a power supply of 3.3V nominally, the SAR ADC functions right down to 2.5V, suitable for battery powered applications.
The ADC is most suited for mobile-phones, bio-medical systems, battery powered and handheld systems, and terrestrial consumer applications.
The CC101SAR is available now as a hard-macro in 0.13um technology for TSMC and Chartered Semiconductor manufacturing processes. It can be retargeted to other foundries such as SMIC or IBM, and to the 0.18um and 90nm process nodes with a short turn-around.
