TTPCom extends partnership with Silicon Laboratories
The AeroFONE™ single-chip phone is a cost effective and easy to use platform for entry level and feature phone GSM/GPRS handsets. The platform integrates the digital and analogue baseband, quad band transceiver, power management unit and battery charging circuitry for a GSM/GPRS class 12 cellular phone in a single, monolithic CMOS IC. By extending the existing relationship with TTPCom, Silicon Laboratories will now license the protocol software directly alongside the AeroFONE platform. This will allow AeroFONE customers to have a single point of contact for platform development and support.
Julian Hildersley, managing director of TTPCom’s silicon business unit comments, “Customers buy the protocol software and platform for use together, so this new way of working simplifies the process for them. We anticipate that this business model will allow all parties to benefit from operational efficiencies.”
“Time to market is a key issue for handset makers and we want to do all that we can to streamline licensing and support arrangements for our customers,” added Dan Rabinovitsj, Vice President of Silicon Laboratories.
