Chipidea Maintains Top Worldwide Analog IP Supplier Ranking
Update: MIPS Technologies Acquires Chipidea (August 27, 2007)
Revenue Growth Earns Number One Ranking by Analyst Firm for Second Consecutive Year LISBON, Portugal--Aug. 16, 2006--Chipidea is the number one worldwide supplier of analog/mixed-signal intellectual property for the second year in a row according to Gartner Inc. Chipidea's market share position grew by 41% percent for the "General-Purpose Analog and Mixed Signal IP" segment, according to the Gartner Dataquest Semiconductor Intellectual Property, Worldwide, 2005 market share report, issued in May.
The market research report also shows that Chipidea's 35 percent revenue growth for 2005 far outpaced the IP semiconductor industry average revenue growth of 16 percent. That vigorous growth enabled Chipidea to jump one spot to the number 13 position in Gartner's overall IP rankings.
"We feel that retaining the number one position in analog/mixed-signal IP is the result of our market differentiation, which is our expertise and know-how, allowing us to offer the best solutions to our customers. We believe Gartner's recent rankings demonstrate that Chipidea was able to increase its market position not only in the general purpose category, but also in the wired interface segment and important regions such as the North America and Asia Pacific," said Jose Franca, Chairman and CEO of Chipidea. "Our ability to outpace the market in revenue growth shows our dedication to seeing our customers achieve successful silicon results. This message is resonating with design teams all over the world and we vow to maintain our focus on the type of customer support that distinguishes Chipidea above all other analog/mixed signal IP suppliers."
The Gartner IP rankings show Chipidea's climb to the number four position in the wired interfaces market segment after achieving the eighth rank in 2004. Chipidea's 105 percent growth in USB IP revenue in 2005 propelled its higher ranking in the wired interfaces segment.
In 2005, Chipidea grew its US IP revenue by 76 percent and its Asia-Pacific revenue by 67 percent, according to the Gartner report. The growth in both of these regions far outpaced the industry average of five percent for the US and 37 percent for Asia Pacific.
Chipidea recently announced the expansion of its radio frequency IP line with the release of two new receiver cores. The expansion is one of many efforts the company believes will help it maintain its market position and grow its revenue next year.
