DAFCA Adds Williams and Hogan to Technical Advisory Board
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — August 17, 2006 — DAFCA, Inc., the leading vendor of on-chip reconfigurable debug infrastructure, announces the addition of two new members to the DAFCA Technical Advisory Board, Dr. Thomas Williams and Jim Hogan. These distinguished semiconductor industry veterans will assist the DAFCA executive management team in the areas of technology strategy and market analysis, and offer insight and direction to support continued corporate growth.
Dr. Thomas W. Williams is a Synopsys Fellow and was formerly the manager of the VLSI Design for Testability group with IBM Microelectronics Division. He received a BSEE from Clarkson University, an M.A. in pure mathematics from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Colorado State University. He has received numerous best paper awards from the IEEE and ACM, is the founder or co-founder of a number of workshops and conferences dealing with testing, and was twice a Distinguished Visitor lecturer for the IEEE Computer Society. Dr. Williams has previously served on the Computer Society Board of Governors and the IEEE Board of Directors, and was the society’s 2000 Treasurer. He is a member of the, Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Bata Pi, IEEE, ACM, Sigma Xi, and Phi Kappa Phi. In 1985 and 1997, he was a Guest Professor and Robert Bosch Fellow at the University of Hannover, Hannover, Germany. He is also serving as an Adjunct Professor at the University Calgary, Alberta Canada. Dr. Williams was named an IEEE Fellow in 1988 and received the Computer Society's W. Wallace McDowell Award for outstanding contributions to the computer art in 1989.
Jim Hogan has worked in the semiconductor industry for over three decades. His experience includes time as a senior executive in electronic design automation, semiconductor intellectual property, semiconductor equipment, and fabrication companies. Immediately prior to joining Telos Venture Partners in 2004, Jim was Senior Vice President of Business Development of Artisan Components. Previously, Jim was Senior Vice President of Business Development and the senior member of the Office of Chief Technologist at Cadence Design Systems. Jim was a Cadence Executive Fellow and held several positions at Cadence including President of Cadence Japan, Corporate Vice President of Marketing, and Corporate Vice President for Field Operations. He was also Chief Operating Officer of Smart Machines, Inc., a semiconductor equipment automation company. Jim also worked for National Semiconductor for 10 years and for Philips. At both companies, he established device physics laboratories globally. Jim's interest in process and design automation for integrated circuits grew from his experiences between 1972 and 1982 at his family's business, which developed semiconductor-packaging equipment. Jim holds a BA degree in mathematics, a BS degree in computer science and an MBA all from San Jose State University.
