First device using Imagination Technologies' Multi-standard MobileTV Solution debuts
September 12, 2006 -- Imagination Technologies – a leader in System on Chip Intellectual Property – is pleased to report that Frontier Silicon has announced its Paradiso FS1030 multi-standard digital TV baseband IC, the first chip using Imagination Technologies’ multi-standard mobile TV platform.
Designed specifically for receiving mobile TV, video, audio and data services over multiple standards, Frontier Silicon’s new, highly integrated Paradiso chip supports DVB-H, DVB-T, T-DMB, DAB-IP and enhanced packet mode DAB. Frontier Silicon says that Paradiso is sampling to lead customers now.
Says Tony King-Smith, VP marketing, Imagination Technologies: “Imagination Technologies’ mobile TV IP platform is unique in enabling multiple mobile TV reception standards on a single device. Combining multiple standards in a single solution is the logical step, allowing manufacturers to target a world market and end users to roam internationally. Imagination expects high-quality mobile video to become as much a part of daily life as mobile audio and communications are today. We congratulate Frontier Silicon, which is already shipping T-DMB mobile TV solutions using our IP in Asia, on being the first to market with a high-efficiency multi-standard mobile TV solution.”
Says Matthew Hatch, VP marketing & business development, Frontier Silicon: “The Paradiso product family has the significant advantage of being standards agnostic in this emerging market. Frontier Silicon’s Paradiso SoC and Imagination Technologies’ mobile TV platform have been designed for this purpose from day one.”
With low system power requirements Imagination Technologies’ Vigo and Kurasawa mobile TV demodulation IP platforms provide the foundation of a highly-integrated mobile TV solution, reducing cost, design risk and time-to-market. These platforms provide the widest range of multi-standard support for Mobile TV, including, “One Seg” ISDB-T, DVB-H, Enhanced Packet Mode DAB and T-DMB.
Imagination Technologies mobile TV technology is:
- Multi-standard, enabling devices that allow multiple standard support in the same country and can roam between countries with different standards
- Highly-integrated, delivering full baseband receiver functionality in a pre-verified subsystem
- Ultra low power consumption – multi-standard capability at no power penalty
