Improv Systems Signs Agreement with BOSTON DSM to Expand Sales and Support
BOSTON -- October 02, 2006 --Improv Systems, a pioneer in the development of configurable DSP solutions, and BOSTON DSM, a leading representative of semiconductor intellectual property (IP), ASIC design services and SoC design tools, today announced an agreement that will see BOSTON DSM provide sales, marketing and technical support for Improv Systems within the Eastern US market.
Improv offers a complete suite of applications and solutions based around its popular Jazz™ DSP core, a highly configurable, multiprocessor architecture that is well suited for today’s demanding consumer, multimedia and mobile communications applications. Rather than a fixed processor and instruction set, the Jazz DSP is used to create designer-defined DSP cores - Jazz DSPs that are customized by the designer for their specific product or application domain. The Jazz DSP, also available in pre-configured options, is a very long instruction word (VLIW) architecture that provides high performance through parallel execution of operations.
“Improv’s technology is an ideal match for BOSTON DSM customers in the eastern US and offers perfect synergy with our set of product offerings. With the addition of Improv’s recently released pre-configured DSP cores, BOSTON DSM customers will have access to a high performance, flexible DSP technology that has never been offered in the IP business, expanding our ability to support the region’s high-performance technology sectors,” said Gerry Desmond, President of BOSTON DSM.
In addition to sales and technical support, the BOSTON DSM team will be trained on the design methodologies enabled by Improv’s solution. Improv offers a robust set of hardware and software design tools optimized for implementing its Jazz DSP technology, as well as a series of applications solution kits tuned to the needs of specific design requirements in areas such as media processing, voice over IP (VoIP) and telecom networking.
“Having an experienced and talented partner like Gerry Desmond and BOSTON DSM on the Improv sales team will help accelerate our penetration within the Eastern US market, which holds vast potential for our DSP technology,” said Bryan Greear, VP of Sales at Improv.
