NovoBlox OTP Memory IP to Unveil at FSA Suppliers Expo
Novocell Semiconductor to Introduce NovoBlox at October 11 Expo
Hermitage, PA -- Ocotober 11, 2006 -- Novocell Semiconductor, Inc., a provider of advanced memory IP, will introduce NovoBlox OTP Memory IP at the FSA (Fabless Semiconductor Association) 2006 Suppliers Expo & Conference occurring October 11 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, CA.
NovoBlox OTP Memory IP has the ability to be embedded into any standard Logic CMOS without special or post processing. It has the ability to be programmed at the wafer or circuit level or in the package, while some competitive solutions can only be programmed at the wafer level.
“The NovoBlox SmartBit™ cell generates and confines the breakdown voltage entirely in the memory cell,” states Novocell Vice President and COO Charles Buenzli. “This allows the unprogrammed cells to have the native reliability of the process while only the programmed cells see high voltage. Overall, this creates a highly reliable memory.”
To ensure that a programmed cell has achieved hard breakdown, NovoBlox applies the high voltage until it detects the current signature of hard breakdown. 100 percent programmability and data retention are guaranteed.
Novocell offers NovoBlox in two architectures, ROM and Serial. The ROM architecture is a natural fit for a processor based system. The Serial architecture features maintained outputs and a serial programming interface, making it ideal for fuse replacement.
NovoBlox has been silicon proven in a wide range of CMOS technologies ranging from 0.5 microns to 90nm and is scalable to 65nm and beyond. It has been proven successful at a number of leading fabs including TSMC, UMC, Jazz Semiconductor and LSI Logic. It is space efficient for small memories ranging from 32bits to 32Kbits. A typical NovoBlox license is $60,000 plus a per unit royalty.
In addition to unveiling NovoBlox at the FSA Suppliers Expo and Conference, Novocell is also the proud sponsor of the Expo Internet Café. Located in the Pavilion in the center of the Exhibit Hall, the Internet Café will offer free Internet access to all expo attendees.
