Elliptic and Spinnaker Systems To Market Digital Rights Management Solutions in Japan
Update: Synopsys Expands Security Solutions with Acquisition of Elliptic Technologies (June 29, 2015)
November 15, 2006 - Yokohama, Japan and Ottawa, Canada: Elliptic and Spinnaker Systems in Japan announced at the Embedded Technology 2006 conference that Spinnaker would promote Elliptic’s market leading DRM solutions in the Japanese market..
Elliptic has the industry’s leading portfolio of DRM middleware and IP core solutions that help customers implement their solutions quickly and in full compliance with the governing standard. There are now many DRM solutions that are required for mobile handsets, personal media players, set top boxes and high definition televisions. They include the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) standard, Microsoft Windows DRM, High-Definition Content Protection (HDCP), Advanced Access Content System (AACS) and the Digital Transport Content Protection (DTCP) standards all of which require significant security expertise to implement successfully. Each standard carries multi-million dollar liability to the licensing authority if the design is hacked and as such is best done by the experts with a proven track record. Elliptic solutions come bundled as a complete solution with both the IP core for processor offload and key wrap and middleware for key derivation and authentication.
“Spinnaker Systems is pleased to join with Elliptic to win digital rights management opportunities in Japan.” said Toru Katagiri, President of Spinnaker Systems Inc.. “Elliptic has a proven track record in Japan and has found the right approach providing a complete solution that is proven and easily integrated into our customers’ designs including both the IP cores and software. This provides an easy, risk free way for our customers to implement the DRM design and fully comply with the target specification.”
”Elliptic is pleased to work with Spinnaker Systems, the premiere Semiconductor IP distributor in Japan.” indicated Al Hawtin, Vice-President of Marketing and Business Development for Elliptic. “The combination of Semiconductor IP and EDA software is perfect as a distribution model as it allows Spinnaker to maintain contacts with the entire customer base of key decision makers in Japan’s consumer electronics market.”
