Carlsbad, Calif., December 18, 2006 -- Patriot Scientific Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: PTSC) confirmed that Schneider Electric has today purchased a Moore Microprocessor Patent™ (MMP) Portfolio license. Patriot Scientific and The TPL Group are co-owners of the MMP Portfolio, which Alliacense, a TPL Group enterprise, exclusively manages.
With European business origins dating back to 1836, Schneider Electric joins the distinguished roster of global manufacturers that have this year purchased MMP Portfolio licenses, including HP, Casio, Fujitsu, Sony, Nikon, Seiko Epson, Pentax, Olympus, Kenwood, Agilent, and Lexmark. Intel and AMD are also licensees.
"We welcome Schneider Electric as our first European MMP Portfolio licensee," said Mike Davis, Alliacense Sr. Vice President, Licensing. "We also welcome this leading power and control specialist as our first MMP licensee in the Industrial Equipment industry segment." He confirmed that substantial discounts are offered to first movers while subsequent licensees in the same industry category are subject to progressively higher rates.
David Pohl, chairman and CEO of Patriot Scientific, said, "This is an impressive licensing year for our company. The increased momentum of our patent portfolio license signings near the end of 2006 leads us to enthusiastically look forward to further licensing successes by the Alliacense team in 2007.
The MMP Portfolio patents, filed in the 1980s, cover techniques that enable higher performance and lower cost designs, and are fundamental to consumer and commercial digital systems ranging from DVD players, cell phones and portable music players to communications infrastructure, medical equipment, and automobiles, which today have dozens of microprocessor-based key features and benefits.
