Newport Media Purchases Arasan USB and SDIO IP
SAN JOSE, Calif.-- January 17, 2007--Arasan Chip Systems, Inc. (“Arasan”), a leading supplier of reusable Intellectual Property (IP) cores, semiconductors and design services, today announced that Newport Media licensed Arasan’s IP, including USB and SDIO. Newport Media is a fabless semiconductor company that develops and sells highly integrated solutions for emerging digital audio and mobile TV broadcast markets. Arasan’s “Bus Stop IP” gives customers a total solution; including customization, software, hardware design kits, verification software and premiere support along with source IP.
“We have licensed multiple IP Cores from Arasan and have been impressed with the quality of the IP and the support structure that facilitates the internalization and integration of the IP into our chips,” said Mohamed Ben-Romdhane, Vice President of Engineering at Newport Media. “Their professional approach and the expertise and know how that they bring along makes all the difference. Mohamed was formerly Executive Director for IP and SOC at Conexant Systems, where he also licensed IP’s from Arasan. Repeat customers account for a significant portion of Arasan’s sales.

Total Technology Solution
Arasan provides a Total Technology Solution to all its licensees including IP source code, a test environment, sample device drivers, synthesis scripts, and complete technical documentation. The Total Technology Solution also includes optional SDIO Development tools like the SD Host Validation Platform, SDIO Device Development Board, and SD/SDIO host Linux stack. Arasan’s SDIO Host Validation Platform is a stand-alone board with the SDIO core used for compliance testing of SDIO Hosts as well as prototyping, including driver development. The SDIO Host Validation Platform is the easiest way to prototype and to demonstrate compliance for customers. The Platform is available for purchase.
Arasan is an Executive Member of the SD Association, Multimedia Card Association and the CE-ATA Workgroup.
