Silistix Gets Silicon Valley Veteran Bruce Bourbon as New Board of Directors Chair
Silistix is no more in business
Silistix Board Restructured to Take Company to Next Level
SAN JOSE, CA -- February 05, 2007 -- Silistix, a provider of innovative software and related circuit designs for on-chip communications solutions, today announced that Bruce Bourbon has joined the company's Board of Directors as the Board's new chairman. Other Silistix Board changes have also been made to position Silistix for its future growth and technology advancement.
"We are very pleased to have Bruce join us as our new Board of Directors' chairman," said David Fritz, Silistix CEO. "Bruce has been a guiding force in several high-tech electronics companies for many years and is very well respected in the industry. His broad experience in both technology development and technology funding will be a great help to Silistix as we continue to develop self-timed interconnect technology and enable silicon IP that the semiconductor industry needs for implementation of complex network-on-chip applications."
Mr. Bourbon is a veteran of the electronics industry with over 40 years experience in semiconductors and electronic design automation (EDA). For the last decade, Bruce has managed the venture capital investment portfolio of Telos Venture Partners. Before founding Telos in 1996, Bruce served in a dual management role with Toshiba Corporation. He was President and CEO of Vertex Semiconductor Corporation (a subsidiary of Toshiba America Electronic Components or TAEC), the only Toshiba semiconductor R&D organization located outside of Japan. Under his guidance, Vertex developed EDA software, ASIC technology, and applications specific standard products (ASSPs). He was also Vice President of system IC marketing at TAEC where he was responsible for Toshiba's ASIC business, standard logic families, microprocessors and the silicon foundry business in the U.S. While with Vertex, Bruce refocused the company on the high-end ASIC market and engineered the company's acquisition by Toshiba.
His career includes several years as Executive Vice President of Corporate Marketing at Cadence Design Systems, where he played a key role in growing Cadence from a small startup to a major force in the EDA business. Prior to Cadence, Bruce was with American Microsystems (AMI) for 10 years, where he last served as Vice President of Marketing. At AMI, he was also Vice President of the semi-custom products group, responsible for the AMI gate array and silicon foundry businesses. Prior to his stint at AMI, Bruce spent fourteen years working for a number of electronic systems companies in various engineering and management positions.
Bruce served as Board Chairman and President of the Open Verilog International (OVI) group for two years from its formation in October 1990. He holds a BSEE from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and an MSEE from the University of California at Los Angeles.
"Being able to work with an energetic and innovative company such as Silistix is a real treat," said Mr. Bourbon. "David and his team have a real handle on the timing, power dissipation, performance and time-to-market challenges facing today's chip developers. Silistix knows how important and disruptive self-timed chip interconnect technology is for the creation of complex, yet cost-effective system-on-chip products."
Along with Mr. Bourbon becoming Board Chairman, other changes are also being made to the Silistix Board of Directors. Steve Furber of Manchester University, a Silistix founder and chairman of the Company's Technical Advisory Committee, is stepping down as a Board director to focus on the Technical Advisory Committee. In addition, Elaine Loukes of Partnerships UK will be joining the Board as a director.
