FSA Announces Danny Biran of Altera to Join Its Board of Directors
SAN JOSE, California -- March 5, 2007 -- FSA, the voice of the global fabless business model, today announced the addition of Danny Biran, vice president of product and corporate marketing at Altera Corporation, to its Board of Directors.
Comprised of industry leaders that define FSA’s strategic direction, the Board of Directors includes 20 executives selected by the Association’s semiconductor members.
“We are pleased to have Altera represented on our Board and look forward to the additional insight Danny Biran’s participation will provide,” said Jodi Shelton, co-founder and executive director of FSA. “His years of experience in IDM and fabless environments, as well as his unique perspective from a start-up and an established company, will be valuable.”
Biran has more than 20 years of semiconductor industry experience. Prior to joining Altera in 2005, he served as the president, CEO, and member of the board of directors of Silverback Systems, a privately held company that develops silicon solutions for storage networks. Previously, Biran held vice president and general management positions at LSI Logic and several engineering management and marketing positions at National Semiconductor. He holds BSEE and MBA degrees from Tel Aviv University.
“Altera is a pioneer of the fabless industry; therefore, it is both an honor and a pleasure to be serving on the FSA Board," said Biran. "Innovation continues to be the very foundation of our company. Together with the FSA, we remain committed to providing an environment that turns innovative ideas into reality.”
The recent merger between ATI and AMD created an open fabless seat on the FSA Board of Directors. FSA members selected Biran to serve in this leadership role to help guide Association initiatives.
