Verisity announces LSI Logic joins Verisity's Pure IP Program
VERISITY ANNOUNCES LSI LOGIC JOINS VERISITY'S PURE IP PROGRAM
LSI Logic Adopts Invisible Specman to Verify IP Functionality for System-on-a-Chip Products
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. June 5, 2000 Verisity Ltd., the leading provider of functional verification automation, today announced that LSI Logic Corporation has joined its Pure IP[tm] program. The Pure IP program gives LSI Logic the ability to deliver intellectual property (IP) with Verisity?s Invisible Specman[tm] toolkits, providing LSI Logic?s customers with a more automated methodology for proving correct integration of cores from LSI Logic?s CoreWare® libraries into system-on-a-chip (SoC) designs.
LSI Logic is able to verify its intellectual property cores using Verisity?s Specman Elite[tm] testbench automation solution. Then, through the Pure IP program, LSI Logic can repackage the checker and coverage code from that environment into Verisity?s Invisible Specman toolkits, and deliver those toolkits with IP to its customers. The toolkits act as an invisible wrapper around the IP, allowing customers to check for adherence to the rules, automatically flagging incorrect usage.
"The communications market relies heavily on IP based on common industry standards,? said Giuseppe Staffaroni, vice president and general manager of LSI Logic?s Broadband Communications Division. ?LSI Logic, through its CoreWare design program, is a leading supplier of system-on-a-chip devices to the communications industry. Utilizing the Verisity tools gives us the ability to automate integration debug of standard interfaces and busses used in communications chips, thus enhancing both quality of product and time to market.?
LSI Logic?s CoreWare design program is a comprehensive process to design, and deliver IP cores, ensuring successful integration of the IP into complex SoC designs.
?Using externally-developed IP for implementing complex designs promises great benefits to design teams,? said Moshe Gavrielov, chief executive officer for Verisity. ?But often the time savings teams get from buying IP is lost in the integration and verification stage. Verisity?s Pure IP program eliminates the integration issues IP customers face and provides developers and integrators with a proven, automated verification methodology.?
Pure IP Program
Verisity?s Pure IP eases the development, delivery and integration of IP. The program enables IP developers to thoroughly verify their IP prior to delivery, then package and transfer their knowledge of the IP and integration rules in an executable form through verification toolkits. The toolkits are delivered with the cores and contain checking and coverage analysis capabilities to aid customers in integrating the IP into their systems. Customers using the toolkits can automatically check for integration correctness and measure the interface coverage between the IP and the system.
By joining the Pure IP program, LSI Logic has licensed the ability to deliver Invisible Specman, a version of Specman Elite, which is transparent to the user, within its verification toolkits. IP integrators can use Invisible Specman without learning or purchasing Specman Elite.
