Elliptic Adds New Officers to Board of Directors
Update: Synopsys Expands Security Solutions with Acquisition of Elliptic Technologies (June 29, 2015)
OTTAWA, CANADA, March 15, 2007 – Richard White, President and CEO of Elliptic is pleased to announce that Norm Kelly of Synopsys and Simon Morris of the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) have been appointed to the Board of Directors.
Mr. Kelly has extensive experience in the semiconductor IP business and currently serves as Director of Business Development, IP Group at Synopsys. Mr. Kelly has more than 25 years experience in the electronics, EDA, and IP industries and has worked in EDA/IP for the last 15 years. He has developed or managed a number of very successful hardware and software products and has extensive experience in management. Norm was VP of Engineering, Logic Modeling Systems, for approximately six years, then at Vantage for 1-1/2 years. He has been with Synopsys for about 10 years and has managed R&D, corporate applications, marketing, and business development. Mr. Kelly is located at Synopsys headquarters in Mountain View, California. He has a BS in computer science from the University of Illinois.
Mr. Morris recently joined BDC Venture Capital bringing roughly 20 years of experience in the semiconductor and wireless markets in executive and senior management positions at both Fortune 500 and start-ups. He joined Texas Instruments in the early days of the Wireless Business Unit in Dallas and later lead the Wireless Infrastructure Systems team in Nice, France where his team architected TI's first solutions and established its roadmap that lead to a $200M+ business for TI. Simon's entrepreneurial experience was gained while VP at Atsana Semiconductor where he lead Product Management, Marketing and Development and then as COO securing the sale of Atsana to Mtekvision in Korea. He was recruited back to lead TI's newest emerging wireless business – Mobile Broadcast in Dallas. Simon holds both his Bachelors and Master's in Electrical Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and is a Professional Engineer of Ontario. Over the years his teams have won EDN's DSP of the Year award, Multimedia Processor of the Year and more recently the TI Product Innovation award. At BDC Mr Morris will be focused on evaluating early stage semiconductor related opportunities and providing product marketing and strategic advice to BDC VC clients.
